Infusionsoft Secures $54 Million from Goldman Sachs to Fuel Growth

At Infusionsoft, we’re up to something big. We’re building a company that’s built to last. Today is a big day on the road to fulfilling our purpose to help small businesses succeed.

I’m pleased to announce Infusionsoft has secured $54 million in growth capital financing from Goldman Sachs. This is super-exciting news for our customers, partners and employees. We’ll put this investment to good use, fueling our product development, accelerating marketing and sales, and growing our partner and education programs in the U.S. and internationally. This ultimately means we will reach more small businesses around the globe and enable them to succeed with our all-in-one sales and marketing software, services and education.

Helping True Small Businesses

We love small businesses. And when I say small, I mean true small businesses, the kind with fewer than 25 employees. So often you see companies treating small businesses all the same. Life is different when you have 100 employees versus 10. We get that. We have created a company built around the needs of the true small business and we’re proud of this focus.

Goldman Sachs shares our belief that successful small businesses are the engine behind the economy. But, the sad truth is that running a small business is hard. More often than not small business success comes at a price. Entrepreneurs end up giving up their lives to make the business work. We aren’t okay with this—we think you should be able to run a successful business and still have a life. We empower entrepreneurs. And we believe in people and their dreams. That’s what we do.

The Big Challenge for Small Businesses Everywhere

Over the years, we’ve spoken to thousands of small businesses. What we’ve discovered is that the most common sales and marketing challenge small businesses report is attracting, capturing and converting leads into customers in an effective way. Small businesses don’t have a proven sales and marketing system to capture leads and convert them into customers. They use a variety of sales and online marketing tools that don’t work together. Their systems are broken and as a result they are losing leads and customers, and wasting time.

The Power of All-in-One

Infusionsoft solves this problem by combining CRM, marketing, and e-commerce into one, easy-to-use web-based system. Infusionsoft is a lifesaver for busy small business owners. We help them automatically market and sell while also saving them time and money so they can invest in other areas of their business, and their life.

That’s why more than 12,000 small businesses representing 44,000 users in 70 countries worldwide rely on Infusionsoft’s all-in-one sales and marketing software to grow their business. No other company in the world serves small businesses the right mix of tools, services and education like we do, which is why Goldman Sachs is betting big on small business and the success Infusionsoft delivers to them. This new funding will allow us to continue doing what we’re doing and more quickly transform the small business landscape.

I want to give my heartfelt appreciation to our customers, to our partners, to our employees and to our families who every day support our purpose of helping small businesses succeed. We are excited about what we’ve accomplished together. But we feel like we’re just getting started.

Wow, $54m! Congratulations. And brilliant to see a continued commitment to small businesses and entrepreneurs. Here’s hoping your success can help empower our success in 2013.

That figure makes my head spin. I love the sound of Infusionsoft but have never been touched by it. I must go see if I can try the system out for my business.

    Kudos, Softies!

That’s an amazing investment! Congrats! I look forward to benefitting too!

  • Steven Essa

    Legends… Thats HUGE!

  • Rob Ashton

That’s great news – congratulations! Really interested to see you mention businesses with up to 25 employees. That figure gives me hope that you’re planning to steal market share from Saleforce. Really hopeful also that it means you’ll improve Salesforce’s CRM, which is the main thing standing in the way of that.

Personally, I’d say their eCommerce is really lagging from pure carts, like UltraCart, but either way this is exciting

      • http://twitter.com/ClateMask Clate Mask

I must say that I agree, Patrick. But you can count on us making some big improvements to our eCommerce capabilities. That is one of many reasons why I’m excited to raise this capital for the business. Thank you for your support!

Congrats INSFT!!! There isn’t a higher quality investment bank than Goldman Sachs and this speaks volumes to Wall Street’s belief in Infusionsoft. We’ve only just begun and this financial fuel enables the next level of internal and external talent to move Infusionsoft to mass appeal and separation from the pack – and let us not forget – all for the good of the customer who made this event possible. As a national firm with an executive ICC, Viral Solutions fully supports the vision and is advancing itself up your coat tail.

Delightedto see this news this morning – congrats and onward!

  • http://www.facebook.com/woodyofoz Brett Alegre-Wood

Great this may mean that I can receive a refund after the bugs in your system lead me to leave, well that and a team that doesn’t bother to respond. So much for helping small businesses. Disappointing but hopefully I get my money back now that you have your 54m

  • http://www.MarketingProfessor.com Travis Campbell

Congratulations! Thanks for your continuing with your committment to helping small businesses succeed.

  • Chris Ripley

Great news! Using Infusionsoft and becoming an ICC are two of the best business decisions I’ve ever made. I look forward to the future.

  • http://twitter.com/TheRivetDaddy iyas

Congrats – awesome news. I’d love to see some of this going into your eCom engine to make it more competitive with some of the other offerings out there. I also see that a part of your plan is to treble your employee base – I’d hope education for them, and especially front-line support staff, features large within that plan. Regardless, well done for securing this.

Good News, infusionsoft is here to stay

  • Robert

Congratulations – tricky to secure funding in the current environment. I hope the added pressure to continually meet growth stats for your VC partners doesn’t mean you won’t be allocating budget to improving the core offerings where they are lacking (eg. ecommerce; API; simple split-testing offered by your competitors but absent from IFS).

    • http://twitter.com/ClateMask Clate Mask

Don’t worry, Robert. They want us to make those core improvements as much as we want to. You’ll be excited by what you see in 2013. Don’t miss InfusionCon. It’s going to be awesome! Can’t wait to unveil our Spring Release!

  • http://twitter.com/ClateMask Clate Mask

Thanks for all the kudos, folks! It’s a fun day at Infusionsoft. We are so excited about the opportunity to make a bigger difference for more entrepreneurs and small businesses. And don’t worry… we won’t forget where we’ve come from. We will be working like crazy to make Infusionsoft better and better for our customers.
As I said above, we’re just gettin’ started!

  • http://www.poweredbysearch.com/ Dev Basu – SEO since 2007.

Congrats to the entire Infusionsoft team! $54m is going to do wonders for the business and as a customer I’m looking forward to even more rapid product development. 2012 was a great year and I am looking forward to 2013 making some of the product’s key features even more accessible to marketers. Kudos!

  • Aymeric

Awesome… looking forward to the improvements of the platform. Well done guys :)

  • http://twitter.com/patrickjstiles Patrick Stiles

So what is the valuation of InfusionSoft??? And what are sales, net profit? Yeah, I’m dreaming to get all this, but daaaaaamn I’m curios!!

    • http://about.me/josephmanna Joseph Manna

We’d love to share, but at this time we can’t disclose these financials. However, we posted $39M in revenue for 2012 and previously $26M for 2011. I think you’ll agree that those are some pretty solid numbers. Small businesses need an all-in-one sales and marketing solution and we are thrilled to provide it. :-)

  • Pramodh BN

Congratulations Clate and team. This is great news for IS. However, when such big announcements come, there are lot of things that would have happened in the background. Mostly funding being a route to growth and to IPO in some time.

However, this could also lead to take-overs, M&A or buy-outs. When these happen, not just the name but also the level of service provided and the pricing all goes for a toss.

The “new owners” could try to “merge” this with their “existing products” and make a mess… This has happened in the marketing automation space with buy-outs by Oracle and IBM, and there are no traces of the products bought, which had served the small businesses.

    These are genuine concerns.

    • http://twitter.com/ClateMask Clate Mask

Good points, Pramodh. We won’t be selling out any time soon. We are committed to helping small businesses succeed. And we’ll be doing it for a long, long time. We love it!

  • Ashraf

This is awesome news congrats InfusionSoft. We should talk, at iClassicMDM.com we build Master Data Management software for Small and Medium Businesses, we should explore how we can collaborate.

  • Josh Phegan

Well Done Clate, that’s outstanding work. Great to see IFS thriving. Looking forward to infusioncon!

  • http://www.facebook.com/woodyofoz Brett Alegre-Wood

    Sorry Joseph (joseph.manna@infusionsoft.com)

It’s not use putting me through to my Account Manager – he is useless. I have had nothing but problems so I am just about to initial a chargeback on my credit card because of the problems I have had with Infusionsoft.

I was more than reasonable but Christian Endsley and the people surrounding him could not provide the software that wasnt buggy. WE have heaps of evidence of this.

I didnt get what I paid for, god knows how many leads I lost and how many didnt receive what they were due. I had to pay for hours of consulting to fix things up because your team could not be bothered and then his sole response is we don’t do refunds.

So if that is the case then I will continue to post negative remarks so that either you guys lose more than then business you have cost me.

In fact I am thinking about hiring a programming in India that will just submit my story any chance I get. I am quite mad and peaved off as you may tell.

Infusionsoft cost my business time, money, lost opportuntiies and all Christian Endsley could do was say ‘No refunds’ which in Aussie speak is the same as saying ‘F off we have your money.”

Not really a good thing for a business that says it is to help small business.

    • Ron

i agree with you, in a similar situation

  • http://www.facebook.com/kathydavid324 Kathy David

    This is awesome! Congrats Infusionsoft!

  • http://www.facebook.com/gordon1 Gordon Drayson

Congratulations – Any chance you could spend some of the money adding timezones into IFS – I was really hoping this Spring Release it would be there – but alas, still not important enough to have made it.
