Social-savvy small businesses rejoice! Twitter Lead Generation Card is now available and integrated with Infusionsoft. With Lead Generation Cards, you can easily capture leads on Twitter, then nurture and convert those leads using Infusionsoft.

Data from our recent customer survey indicates that over 60% of our customers use social media channels like Twitter to generate leads. Before today, it wasn’t easy to capture leads from Twitter and automate follow up. But that’s about to change.

Thanks to our integration with Twitter for their latest advertising product, Lead Generation Card, it’s now possible for you to build relationships on Twitter and take them to the next level.

What is a Lead Generation Card?

A live example of Lead Generation Card that followers will see on Twitter.A Lead Generation Card is a type of promoted tweet for Twitter advertisers. You can create a daily budget for promoted tweets or bid per engagement. Promoted Tweets are best used to get the word out about a special offer or event.

When one of your followers on Twitter expands this Tweet, they will see an image, description and a call-to-action. The form in the expanded tweet is pre-filled making it simple for followers to share their contact details with you. When they click the call-to-action button their Twitter name, email address and Twitter username will be sent directly (and securely) to Infusionsoft.

How do I set up Lead Generation Cards with Infusionsoft?

Below I’ve outlined the steps to set up a lead generation nurture campaign in Infusionsoft and create the Lead Generation Card in Twitter. You can also review more detailed instructions on our Help Center.

1. Create Your Twitter Lead Gen Campaign

For the easiest setup, we recommend installing then customizing the pre-built Twitter Lead Generation Campaign from the Marketplace within Campaign Builder. Once installed, simply double-click to open the “Accept Twitter Offer” goal configuration. This goal generates a unique “Submit URL” which must be copied over to Twitter for the Lead Generation Card setup.

To create your own follow up campaign, drag out the new “Accept Twitter Offer” goal in Campaign Builder. Once you’ve dropped the “Accept Twitter Offer” goal onto the Campaign Builder canvas, build the rest of the campaign as you wish.

2. Create a Twitter Lead Generation Card

Log in to your Twitter account on the web. From the Settings dropdown menu as indicated by a gear icon, click on Twitter Ads. Navigate to “Advertising” then click “Cards.” Complete each step of the creation process. You will need an image, a short description and a call to action. Pay close attention to the image requirements and be sure to use a unique and engaging image that will catch the attention of your target audience.

Before you can create a Twitter Lead Generation Card, you will need to have your Twitter Ads account switched to “Advanced” mode. This sounds a bit intimidating, but it grants you access to the Cards feature as well as granular control over your advertising campaigns on Twitter. When logged in, click the “Switch to Advanced” link and proceed to the next step.

Get started by clicking ‘Cards’ in the Advertising menu located along the top of the page.

Now you can customize the display and configure the settings for your Twitter Lead Generation Card.

3.  Technical Settings

The final step to get your Lead Generation Card online is to copy and paste four specific URLs as it relates to your Submit URL, Fallback URL, and a link to your Privacy Policy. Select “POST” from the drop-down menu.

  • Submit URL – Paste the “Submit URL” you copied earlier from your Infusionsoft goal configuration. This is what Twitter will use to transmit the details automatically into Infusionsoft.
  • Landing Page URL — The Fallback URL should point to a generic page on your site such as your home page (not recommended), or a lead generation form that you host on your site or even a hosted Infusionsoft Web Form URL. This is needed so people using unsupported Twitter clients can still easily respond to your campaigns.
  • Privacy Policy – In accordance with best practices and some regional laws, this ensures that your prospects can see who is collecting their data and how it will be used. If you don’t have a privacy policy, here is a free guide to create one.

When you’re finished, click “Create Card” and you are finished.

Measuring Results

Once you publish your campaign and launch your ads on Twitter, you’ll want to measure the results of your marketing. Each contact added to Infusionsoft by achieving the “Accept Twitter Offer” goal will have a “Twitter Lead Gen Card” lead source. Make sure to measure your success by using the Lead Source Conversion and/or Lead Source Trending reports within Infusionsoft. If you desire, add a tag related to the specific Web Form so you can perform additional personalized marketing in the future.
